Movies I Watched Recently (I like nearly every movie I watch)

Deadpool vs. Wolverine

God. This movie was so bad. I haven't watched a marvel movie since infinity war, and I'm glad I haven't. The multiverse theme is getting extremely ridiculous, which the movie points out about 800 times in its run. It was SO funny though, and I had a good laugh several times! Where are they getting these writers, and more importantly, why don't they make more funny movies????? The jokes were hilarious when they weren't pandering. I've also never seen any of the x-men movies, but I didn't really need to to get what was going on. I thought this was a very silly movie with a dumb plot that had lots of holes and too many points. If marvel was able to scale it back a bit I think it'd have been even better. The only thing that made it watchable was how funny it was.

Pretty Woman

LOVE this movie. Apparently Richard Gere and Julia Roberts had beef the whole time filming this movie, which is a testament to their acting ability. I love this movie because it has everything you could need. Julia Roberts, an epic makeover scene, and the guy who's in the princess diaries. Romcoms are my favorite and I've watched this one quite a bit.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix

I think these movies are great. Much darker than the other two, but still retain the silliness of the other movies. Watched these all over the past few months.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I like this movie so much. Every adult actor serves so much cunt it's ridiculous. Also the Dumbledore actor in the first two movies has a large amount of wizard swag, while the Dumbledore in the next movies has Headmaster Swag. I think it's one of the sweetest of the movies before shit gets real. Also Harry is such a little shit and I think it's really funny how he has beef with so many GROWN ADULTS! LEAVE THIS 12 YEAR OLD ALONE! But I think I'd have beef with him too he's SUCH a little shit it's so funny.

Oscar reveiw: 8.5/10 It's very sweet. The ending is so happy. Good twists and turns.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

This movie is pure nostalgia for me. The beginning of a series I read as a comfort growing up. A magical boarding school where the main character is whisked away from his less than ideal home? SIGN ME UP! I know, JK Rowling bad and whatever, but watching this movie at no gain on her end I don't think is too bad. I think taking comfort in media while knowing it's offensive and has behind the scenes controversies is an important skill to have, as an adult. Many things can be true at once and there are worse crimes to be committing. Also, Hermione is so slay and hilarious in this movie that I just can't stop giggling every time she's on screen. Flawless casting, ultimate nostalgia, and it gets much sadder and scarier as I get older because the kids are younger to me. Being 13 really feels like a lifetime ago. i was so little then.

Oscar review: 8.5/10 because it was so entertaining and cute. Left me wanting more which is good for a first movie in a series. It has all the good things a movie should have.

Meet the Fockers

I think this movie is hilarious because it's exactly what it would be like if my parents (Dina and Jack) met my boyfriend Oscar's (the fockers). It made me giggle so much because the fockers were so funny and sex positive, but it was made when that was a mockable offense so most of those jokes didn't land. However I think it has a sweet message with a bitchin set and cast, and it was entertaining!

10 Things I Hate About You

I like this movie. Any movie based off of a Shakespeare play (especially a ROMCOM!) is almost guaranteed to be a winner for me. The plot's already there, so the work the writers have to do is just modernize it in a memorable way! I like this movie because the shrew doesn't actually get tamed, she just finds someone who loves her as she is. I think that's an important message, especially if you've been sold the idea that if you're unpleasant you're unlikeable. AU CONTRAIRE! Also, points for the first kiss scene. So iconic.

Twisters

This movie was great! I really liked it. It was so cheesy and the acting was not the best and the plot lacked all kinds of structure, but I think they knew this and just decided to go with it. I love a movie that doesn't take itself seriously, and knows the power they hold when they put Glen Powell in a fitted shirt and give him a funny little accent and cocky personality. Also the slays being committed during the whole movie were great. Glen Powell youtuber character? Slay! Guy who was in Hamilton? SLAY! The lead queen having PTSD but learning to live with it and overcome it through helping people, the main motivation of her character?? SLAY!!!!!!!!!! Also, I think the Youtube crew Glen Powell (now calling him GP) has in the movie was great and cracked me up. I think they needed to put on an insane song for the pinnacle scene of the movie where Kate is driving into the tornado in GP's truck. Thing had a bitchin sound system heavily featured through the rest of the movie, but not in the arguably most important scene.

Legally Blonde

This movie is a slay on top of slays. I recently watched this (duh) but I've seen it probably 10 times by now. I'm on a GIRL (used in a conceptual not gender role way) movie kick right now, because my boyfriend hasn't seen ANY girl movies. I am culturing him. He loved it by the WAY! Anyway, this movie is actually an imperfect feminist masterpiece. Throughout the movie there's themes of Elle Woods not being taken seriously, because she's a pretty bubbly California girl. Also, nobody expects her to be serious, so she's used to coasting through life on top at the beginning. When she goes to Harvard, instead of winning her dirtbag boyfriend back, she instead falls in love with law school, where she's expected to take it seriously and apply herself, not just laugh it off. Also, the emphasis on trusting and being trustworthy is also a theme of the movie, which is an important foundation for friendship, especially between women. In this movie, women put their differences aside to be kind to each other in a male-dominated world. Also, Elle does law school HER way, which doesn't mean she doesn't take it seriously, but it takes people a while to come around to it.
